A major defensive target has emerged, but getting this deal done won’t be easy

Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven as they search for a replacement following Ibrahima Konate’s departure.

The Dutch centre-back has established himself as one of the Premier League’s standout defenders, thanks to his pace, recovery ability, and defensive awareness. Liverpool believe he could be the ideal addition to strengthen their backline ahead of the new season.

However, Tottenham are not willing to let him leave easily. New manager Roberto De Zerbi reportedly sees Van de Ven as a key part of his long-term plans and wants to build his defence around the 25-year-old.

With the defender under contract until 2029, Tottenham are under no pressure to sell. Any club hoping to sign him would likely need to submit a huge offer before Spurs consider a transfer.
