Liverpool fans were left stunned on Wednesday night after transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Andy Robertson has verbally agreed to join Tottenham Hotspur.
The Scottish defender recently said goodbye to Anfield after spending nine successful years with Liverpool, helping the club win multiple major trophies including the Premier League and Champions League.
Reports earlier in the week suggested Spurs were leading the race for Robertson, and Romano has now given the deal his famous “here we go,” confirming that Tottenham have reached a verbal agreement with the left-back despite late interest from Juventus.
Robertson is expected to complete the move soon, with Spurs having tracked him since January. The transfer will see the Liverpool legend return to Anfield next season wearing opposition colours for the first time.
With Robertson seemingly on his way out, Liverpool are now expected to rely on Milos Kerkez as their first-choice left-back next season. Questions also remain over who will provide backup, with Kostas Tsimikas and youngster Owen Beck among the possible options.
